Day Fifty - 50+ days at Ballymaloe!!! 😱🤫

This morning I awoke with a renewed energy ... the tonic the pharmacy gave me seems to be working but just in case ... I made a very strong coffee (moka pot) to make double sure! 😛

My eight week in the kitchen started well and with a new partner (Colin from San Diego) and our teacher this week ... the lovely Annette who is taking pleasure in winding me up 😝😛  The mornings cooking went well ... I made a caramelised apple tart, crab toast (chilli, lime, fennel) with Lemon aioli! I also made a brown yeast bread 🙂 I finished pretty early so was able to eat in comfort and still get back to the cottage for a quick shower before demo  (the heat in the kitchen is pretty heavy ... shock 😱😝)

The afternoon demo today was presented by Rory and seemed to go by really quickly! 

I couldn’t taste after demo as I think I have over-dosed on food at this stage ... we’ll see how long that lasts! Today’s dishes ...

  • Green Gooseberry and Elderflower Compote
  • Risotto alla Parmigiana and variations
  • Zucchini and zucchini blossoms;
  • Risi e Bisi - Pea risotto

After demo we all had to go into the “office” to receive our exam results from Darina ... also pointing out what we lost points on! I was extremely happy with mine and let’s just say they were probably better than any other  results in any other exams ... ever 😂 

This evening filled with a new energy I decided to get back to the gym ... tomorrow is going to hurt 😝 It never ceases to amaze me how quickly fitness disappears when not kept up even for a few weeks! 😢

Tomorrow I am making a lemon and saffron risotto and a mango, chilli & coriander chutney and some sort of biscuits ... I’ll also try to make some breads ... depending on time! 🤔
